WhatsApp New Chat Lock feature has been introduced to help our users to keep their messages and conversations private and secure. While WhatsApp already provides end-to-end encryption application, the new feature acts as an additional layer by allowing users to select the conversations they want to keep hidden from anyone else’s access. These conversations can only be opened through the correct passcode, fingerprint, or Face ID authentication. one in blog post on Monday, meta WhatsApp announced the introduction of a new security layer for chats with the new ‘Chat Lock’ feature. Using this feature will move locked chat threads to a different folder. Any notification about these chats will neither show the sender name nor the message preview. Also, media files shared in these chats will not be automatically saved in the phone’s gallery.
These chats can be locked using multiple security options like passcode, fingerprint or Face ID authentication. The Chat Lock feature is available on WhatsApp for both Android and iOS.
To get the feature, users need to download the latest version of WhatsApp which is available app StoreOr google play store, The feature is available with WhatsApp for Android version 2.23.10.71 and WhatsApp for iOS version 2.23.9.77.
To move any conversation to the locked folder, one just needs to tap on the thread and click on the Chat Lock feature. As stated in the blog, Meta is working to introduce several new updates to the feature, such as creating customized passwords that are different from the pre-existing ones to unlock the phone. The social media company is also working to make the Chat Lock feature work on all companion devices that have an active WhatsApp account.
