This state bans political events on school premises

Tripura has banned political rallies and events in school premises during school hours. The orders were issued after the state education department received some reports against a section of headmasters for allowing such programs during school hours. However, for any such programme, an NOC from Education Department has been made mandatory.

“It is hereby reiterated that the resources of any school including playground shall not be used by any political party/organizer for conducting political functions/rallies etc. from the Director Secondary/Elementary Education or the concerned District Education Officer. No Objection Certificate may be a condition, as the case may be. For holding other events also strictly during holidays or after school hours. The undersigned is aware that some Principals/ TICs have violated this rule and Has given tacit approval for use of school grounds for political gatherings during school hours, while the organizer is not obtaining NOC,” reads the order undersigned by Chandni Chandran, Director, School Education Department.

The Education Department of Tripura underlined that COVID-19 The induced lockdown has severely affected studies and thus physical classes during school hours should be given top priority.

Last month, on January 31, Tripura reopened all schools from pre-primary to class 12 due to the fall in coronavirus cases. Earlier on January 10, the education department announced cancellation of classes in schools from pre-primary to class 2, student attendance from class 3 onwards and higher educational institutions down to 50% during the omicron wave Was.

Later on January 15, schools from pre-primary to class 7 were suspended till January 30, while 50% of students of classes 8 to 12 would be allowed to take alternate days with the permission of parents due to the pandemic. was allowed to attend schools.
