Thomas Muller rubs salt in Lionel Messi’s wounds after PSG’s Champions League exit football news

Lionel Messi may be one of the greatest players of all time but his success against German giants Bayern Munich has been very limited. Whenever Messi’s teams play against Bayern, most of the times the Bavarians are victorious. The same happened when Messi’s Paris Saint-Germain side took the Bundesliga side to the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League, with the Parisians suffering a 3–0 aggregate defeat to be knocked out of the competition.

After losing the home leg 0-1, PSG produced a second-best performance in the second leg in Munich on Wednesday. As Messi’s hopes of lifting the Champions League again hang in the balance, Bayern forward Thomas Müller rubbed salt into the Argentine’s wounds.

Müller has enjoyed some impressive results against Messi’s teams at both club and international level. And, he didn’t mind sharing it after PSG’s exit from this season’s Champions League.

“Against Messi, things are always good at all levels in terms of results. At club level, Cristiano Ronaldo We had problems when he was at Real Madrid. But I have a lot of respect for Messi’s World Cup performance. Messi’s individual performance in the World Cup was outstanding. He carried the whole squad. It is not that easy to play for a team like PSG. It’s hard to get a really good team balance,” he told Kicker journalist George Holzner.

Messi was ineffective in both legs of the Champions League round of 16 against Bayern, putting in a sorry performance. The Argentine was closely marked by Bayern players in particular. Leon Goretzka Which irked the World Cup winner a lot.

In his last three matches against Bayern Munich, Messi hasn’t tasted success, losing 8-2, 1-0 and 2-0 respectively. In fact, Messi has won only two of his last nine games against the Bavarians.
