“Thought they were cultured and well-mannered”: Sharad Ritu on Devendra Fadnavis’s likes

Sharad Pawar termed the lies of Devendra Fadnavis as baseless.

Mumbai:

Three years after the episode of joining hands with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar overnight to form the government in Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has spoken candidly on it. He said on Monday that this exercise had the support of NCP chief Sharad Pawar. The deal was discussed since autumn itself. Reacting to Fadnavis’ comment, Sharad Sharad said, “I think Devendra is a cultured and well-mannered person.” I never thought that he would support a lie and give a statement like this.

In a private channel program, Devendra Fundavis said, “We had a proposal from the NCP that they needed a stable government. Together we should form such a government. We decided to go ahead and negotiate. Sharad happened from Sharad. Then things changed. You saw how things changed.

During the program, Fadnavis said, “With all fairness, I want to say that Ajit Maun took oath with me sincerely… But later his (NCP’s) strategy changed.”

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 105 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. The results of the election were declared on October 24, 2019. Being in alliance with BJP, BJP had won 56 seats. Despite the alliance having enough seats to form the government, there was a conflict between the two allies over who would get the posts.

As a result, the BJP started talks with the Congress and the NCP to form a government. With no result, the Center imposed President’s rule in Maharashtra on 12 November. BJP, Congress and NCP continued talks to form an alliance. Sharad later announced that Future Thackeray was newly elected to lead the government from the front.

After this, on the morning of 23 November, Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar took oath in a hurry and announced the government. However, both had to resign after the controversy. Later, due to cloud cover, a coalition government was formed. But in the last years the government in Maharashtra fell under ‘Operation Lotus’. Now there is a coalition government of BJP with a faction of BJP. BJP faction leader Eknath Shinde is the CM and Devendra Fadnavi has become the deputy CM. (with language)
