State Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that three policemen were killed in firing by poachers in a village in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district in the early hours of Saturday.

He said the incident took place on Shahrok road near Saga Barkheda village of Aaron police station area, about 160 km from the state capital, when the police personnel had gone to nab the miscreants after a tip-off.

Police sources said the body of a person who sustained bullet injuries was also recovered from nearby Bidoria village, who is suspected to be involved in the incident and is believed to have been killed in retaliatory firing by the police.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a high-level meeting regarding the incident, after which he announced an ex-gratia of Rs one crore to the kin of each of the martyred policemen along with government jobs. He also transferred Inspector General (IG) Gwalior area Anil Sharma for the “delay” in reaching the spot.

“After information about the presence of some miscreants (hunters), a police team reached the spot located under Aaron police station in Guna district. After the police personnel surrounded them from all sides, the miscreants started firing on them, in which three The policemen were killed,” Minister Mishra told reporters.

He said police sub-inspector Rajkumar Jatav and two constables Nilesh Bhargava and Santram Meena were killed in the firing. He said, “The incident is sad and heart-wrenching. Instructions have been given to take such strict action against the criminals, who will set an example.” After a meeting with senior officials of the police department and administration at the Chief Minister’s residence, Mishra said that the seven poachers and miscreants involved in the incident have been identified. has been done.

CM Chouhan said, “Our police personnel sacrificed their lives while stopping poachers in Guna. These policemen will be given martyr status, their families will be given ex-gratia amount of Rs.1 crore each. One member of each martyr’s family. An ex-gratia of Rs.1 crore each will be given to the government job. He said that after reaching the spot late after the incident, he has decided to transfer IG Gwalior immediately.

The state home department later issued the transfer order of the IG, replacing Sharma with officer D Srinivas Verma. Chouhan said, “The criminals involved in the incident have been identified. The body of a person killed in the bullet injury has also been recovered from the nearby village. But further investigation is on.
