Mumbai:

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday alleged that income tax raids were conducted on the premises of Shiv Sena corporator Yashwant Jadhav keeping in mind the upcoming Mumbai civic polls.

Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Mr Raut said that these raids were done with an aim to defame Shiv Sena.

“We are noticing all these things. People are also watching. Let them do that and find what they are looking for,” Raut said.

He said that it seems that the central probe agencies are busy only in Maharashtra and West Bengal, which are ruled by non-BJP parties.

The Income Tax Department on Friday searched the premises of Mr Jadhav, who heads the powerful standing committee of the Shiv Sena-ruled Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, on charges of alleged tax evasion. BMC election schedule has not been announced yet.
