Jaisalmer District Magistrate Tina Dabi has come under attack for breaking the houses of Hindu migrants from Pakistan settled on government land in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. According to reports, more than 50 ‘kucha’ houses, in which more than 150 women, men and children lived, were razed to the ground, allegedly on the orders of Tina Dabi.
In protest, Hindu migrants put up tents outside her house in Jaisalmer. Protesting against the anti-encroachment drive, Hindu migrants demanded that their concerns be heard. Tina Dabi There was a lot of criticism on social media as well.
An official said on Thursday that Hindu migrants from Pakistan would be rehabilitated soon. Addressing the reporters, Tina Dabi said that the process of rehabilitation of Hindu migrants from across the border would be done and land would be allotted to them soon.
Tina Dabi said, ‘We have formed a committee, which will soon identify a suitable place where Pakistani expatriates can be rehabilitated. Initially, we will allot land to those who have got Indian citizenship.”
Tina Dabi also said that land will be allotted after the migrants are given Indian citizenship. She also said that the district administration had arranged accommodation for the Hindu migrants in government-run shelter homes, also known as ‘rain baseras’, till the allotment of land.
