Tirupur farmers demand basic facilities in Uzhavar Sandhai

A delegation of farmers from Tirupur South Uzhavar Sandhai filed a petition seeking improvement in the infrastructure in the daily market to Collector S Vineeth during a grievance redressal meeting at the Collectorate on Monday.

L Bupathi Raj, a farmer who runs a wholesale grocery shop at Uzhavar Sandhai in Tiruppur South, said a lot of unregulated grocery shops are emerging in front of the market. He also alleged that business in Ujhawar Sandhai is being affected due to the increase of unregulated shops.

The farmers also alleged that the market does not have proper infrastructure facilities. Raj said, “The lights inside the market were not working for the last three months. Due to this lack of infrastructure, around 110 shops within Uzhawar Sandhai are struggling.” The farmers allege that despite repeated complaints no action was taken.

He also threatened to protest on the Tirupur-Palladam road on Wednesday if action is not taken. Mr. Vineet promised them a speedy solution.

Shri Vineet also received 702 petitions including old age pension, road facility, lease land and directed the officers to redress the grievances. Deputy Collector and other government officials were present.
