TMC MLA threatens to slit wrist of land shark trying to grab playground

A ruling Trinamool Congress MLA has threatened to slit the wrist of an alleged land-shark who was trying to capture a playground in his assembly constituency in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district. Kamarhati MLA Madan Mitra, however, later apologized for the remarks.

The former state sports minister claimed that some people were trying to build an apartment complex at Meghnad Math in Belgharia area due to allegiance to his party. “Some criminals are trying to construct illegally on the playground, which I was planning to beautify with local MP Saugata Roy. Names of three people are coming up time and again. They are under my watch. I will file an FIR, and if the police does not act, I will start a mass movement to save the land.

“If they think they can threaten or buy me, they are wrong. This is my last warning to them. If they dare to put even a finger on the ground, I will slit their wrists with their hands If the need arises, I will go to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and tell her how some people are misusing the name of the party,” Mitra said in a Facebook Live on Saturday night. Naihati TMC MLA Partha Bhowmik, supporting Mitra, said That being a “people’s leader”, the former minister felt pained at the attempts to snatch away the rights of children in the playground. Bhowmik told reporters, “However, he had to use words to slit someone’s wrist. should not have.”
