Top brands queuing up for Women’s Premier League

New Delhi/Mumbai: The inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League has emerged as the new black for brands as they lined up to sign sponsorship deals with five franchises. The season is starting from Saturday.

Most of the franchisees have sold all the spots in the making Sports marketing experts said Rs 12-15 crore from sponsorship alone. He said the response has been overwhelming as several new categories that have never advertised for cricket or even the men’s Indian Premier League (IPL) have joined the bandwagon.

Mumbai Indians, owned by a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, have closed high value deals 15 crore by on-boarding seven brands. It has Lotus Herbals (front of jersey) and Ashok Leyland (back of jersey) as major partners. Both are first time sponsors. Mi also roped in Dream11 and Sonata Software as associate partners, whose logos will be on the lead and non-lead arms. Max Life Insurance and Nutrizo are the official partners, and the caps and helmets will be led by Usha. It has a slot for Reliance Foundation’s Education and Sports for All. A Mi spokesperson said, “We welcome brand partners to the Mi #One family and be a part of the growth story.” But supporting women’s cricket is the vision and the right thing to do.

Delhi Capitals, owned by GMR Group and JSW Group, said it has signed sponsorship value 15 crores and have closed almost all the spots on the team jersey. “We have tied up with multinational firms in food, consumer durables, consumer care, saree brands, women wear and fantasy gaming firms,” said Divyanshu Singh, chief operating officer, JSW Sports. The main sponsor is JSW Paint. Sportsbuzz11, Joy Personal Care and Galaxy Basmati Rice are others.

The Diageo-owned Royal Challengers Bangalore have Kajaria Ceramics as the main sponsor. Mia by Tanishq, Pam Dream11, Vega Beauty and Himalayan Face Care are others. Capri Global Holdings, the owner of UP Warriors, signed Patanjali Ayurveda as title sponsor and EaseMyTrip as sponsor for five years. The sponsor of Gujarat Giants, owned by the Adani Group, is the group firm Ambuja Cement.
