The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday warned that it would initiate contempt of court proceedings against the chief secretary if the state fails to implement its order to provide land for cemeteries in all villages and towns within two weeks. Will be forced to.

On Tuesday, the state sought two more weeks to complete the process.
A division bench of Justice B Veerappa and Justice KS Hemlekha, however, said that it had provided sufficient time to the State to comply with its orders.
The court said that if its orders are not implemented within two weeks, the chief secretary will have to appear in person in the court on February 7, the next date of hearing, and it will initiate contempt proceedings against the officer.
