Heavy torrential downpour lashed the Nilgiris district on the intervening night of Saturday and the downpour lasted in Coimbatore also.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department’s rainfall report on the Coimbatore district, the area has seen a total rainfall of 497.48 mm, with the average rainfall being 21.63 mm across all the 23 rain gauge stations
The amount of rainfall experienced in various rainfall stations in the district as of 8.30 a.m. on Saturday is as follows in mm: Airport Peelamedu: 2.40, T.N.A.U: 14.40, P.N Palayam: 5.20, Mettupalayam: 1.00, Pillur Dam: 3.00, Coimbatore South Taluk: 6.20, Sulur: 3.20, PWD Office Vaarappatti: 9.00, BDO Office, Thondamuthur: 7.00, Siruvani Adivaram: 53.00, Madukkarai Taluk: 12.00, Railway Station, Podanur: 9.08, Pollachi Taluk Office: 22.00, PWD IB, Makkinampatti: 41.00, Kinathukkadavu Taluk: 9.00, Anamalai Taluk: 18.00, Aliyar: 12.00, Cincona: 55.00, Chinnakalar: 92.00, Valparai PAP: 32.00, Valparai Taluk: 30.00, Sholayar: 61.00.
The total rainfall in mm in the Nilgiris district was 846.7 mm and the average rainfall across the 29 rain gauge stations was 29.2 mm as of 8.30 a.m. on Saturday.
