The Toyota Hilux was spotted testing multiple times in India last month and we also told you that the lifestyle pickup truck was going to go on sale in India earlier this year. Well! The Japanese carmaker is all set to launch the Toyota Hilux pickup truck in India on January 20, when the company will start accepting bookings for the model. That said, deliveries of the new Toyota Hilux will only begin in March 2022.

The Toyota Hilux is loaded with creature comforts.
The Toyota Hilux will be offered only in a double-cab variant and shares its underpinnings with the existing Toyota Innova Crysta and Fortuner. It is produced by the IMV-2 platform and actually has some recognizable bits that have been borrowed from the Innova Crysta. That said, the face looks new and fresh with the larger hexagonal grille, sweptback LED headlamps with LED DRLs, new bumpers, 18-inch alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, side-steps, body cladding and LED taillight. On the inside, the Hilux is likely to get an all-black cabin with features like leather upholstery, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated seats, cruise control, eight-way electrically adjustable front seats, connected car tech.

It shares its engine options with the Fortuner.

The engine specifications of the Toyota Hilux are still under wraps. However, the pick-up truck is likely to be powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine that develops 201 bhp and 420 Nm of peak torque. The automatic variant makes a peak torque of 500 Nm. The carmaker can offer both 4×2 and 4×4 versions to meet the requirements of different customers. The Hilux will be locally assembled at Toyota’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka. When launched, it will rival the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross in the segment.
