Toyota SUVs are celebrated across the world for the bulletproof reliability they provide. For this reason, Toyota Innova and Fortuner are the most popular names in their respective segments. In the international markets, Toyota is selling SUVs in various shapes and sizes. Sadly, the Indian market has been kept away from an affordable mid-sized SUV. Now, it looks like Toyota is ready to change its portfolio for good. The company is developing a Hyundai Creta rival for the Indian market, and it will be called the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Confirmed to be unveiled on July 1, the Haider is believed to hit the showroom floors by Diwali this year.
The primary question among buyers is what the Toyota Urban Cruiser Haider will actually look like. Thanks to digital artist – Shoaib R. Kalaniya, we now have a rendering of the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser Header. The mid-size SUV in the rendering draws a lot of inspiration from the Suzuki Vitara sold in the international markets.
Additionally, it gets a vertically-split headlamp design, as seen in the leaked images of the vehicle. There is a hexagonal air dam at the bottom of the nose, which is quite large and gives a rough and tough appeal to the front end. Also, the Toyota logo gets a blue color background here. Eventually, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Haider is expected to come with a robust hybrid powertrain. Also, a mild-hybrid variant of the 1.5L petrol motor is likely to be on offer.

A Maruti Suzuki-badged version of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Haider will also go on sale once it hits the market. Also, the SUV will be built by Toyota for Maruti Suzuki – reports suggest. It will be underpinned by a Daihatsu-derived DNGA platform. To be a capable rival against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and MG Hector, it will be loaded with a slew of bells and whistles.
