Train coach converted into restaurant at New Jalpaiguri station in West Bengal

The restaurant has a capacity of 32 people.

In a very interesting news, an old train coach at New Jalpaiguri railway station in West Bengal has been renovated to convert it into a restaurant. The restaurant has been designed in such a way to give the ambiance of a railway station to the passengers.

The Ministry of Railways took to Twitter to share the news. He wrote, “Coach se restaurant! With an aim to provide a unique experience to the visitors, an aesthetically designed Rail Coach Restaurant has been opened at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station, West Bengal. The restaurant has been restored by recycling an old passenger coach. has been established.”

New Jalpaiguri Junction Additional Divisional Railway Manager Sanjay Chilwarwar told the news agency that the ‘Rail Coach Restaurant’ serves various cuisines ranging from North Indian and South Indian to Chinese. PTI, The menu includes Chai, Biryani, Fried Rice, Chili Chicken, Momos, Dosa etc.

As per the photos shared by the ministry, the restaurant has both inside and outside seating options. The seats are painted bright yellow.

“The restaurant will not only help in increasing the revenue of the Railways but will also give a unique experience to the passengers of eating in a train compartment,” he added. Mr Chilwar said there would be 40 staff members and the restaurant would operate from 6 am to 10 pm.

It is also reported that the restaurant is open to both general visitors and rail passengers. There are eight tables that can accommodate 32 guests at a time.

Various photographs of buildings and architecture of West Bengal including Darjeeling Himalayan Railway toy train, Coronation Bridge, Howrah Bridge and Victoria Memorial are also displayed on the walls of the restaurant.

North East Frontier Railway is also planning to set up such restaurants in Sukna, Tindhara, Kurseong and Darjeeling stations of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway.
