Tripura Assembly Speaker Rebati Mohan Das Resigns, Appointed As State BJP Vice President

Tripura Assembly Speaker Rebati Mohan Das on Thursday resigned from her post before being appointed as the vice-president of the state unit of the BJP. Das said he had voluntarily resigned as he wanted to work for the party.

“I requested the party to bring me back to organizational work. I thank party president (Manik Saha) and chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb for giving me an opportunity to work for the organisation,” he told a press conference. In the press conference, it was announced to appoint Das as the Vice President of the state unit of the party. Meanwhile, Lok Sabha MP Pratima Bhowmik on Thursday quit as the vice-president of the BJP Tripura unit. She became the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment in July.
