Tripura: Trinamool leader arrested for ‘harassing’ CM’s meeting; BJP alleges that TMC, Congress and CPI(M) are linked

Hours after the arrest of Trinamool Congress leader Sayoni Ghosh by Tripura Police for allegedly ‘harassing’ a street meeting of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on November 20 – the state’s Law and Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath was named CPI(M)’ Smells of ‘big conspiracy’. And behind supporting TMC to create unrest ahead of Congress civic body elections.

Out of 334 seats, the ruling BJP has already won 112 seats unopposed in 20 urban bodies, including the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC). After BJP wrested Tripura from the Left Front in 2018, this will be the first civic polls that the ruling party is going to face a tough fight against Congress, CPI(M) and TMC.

Tripura civic polls will be held on November 25 and all parties, including the TMC, have intensified their campaign in the state, with senior party leaders from Bengal visiting Tripura and a series of meetings and gatherings to counter the ruling BJP. are conducted.

Tripura Law and Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath while addressing a press conference late on Sunday said, “Whatever happened last night was unfortunate. The TMC leader, identified as Sayoni Ghosh, disrupted a public meeting of Chief Minister Biplab Deb. After the incident, the police have taken action and you all know what happened today. People are peace loving in Tripura and TMC is trying to create an atmosphere of terror in the state. He has an understanding with CPI(M) and Congress and I can say this with enough evidence.

“It is the CPI(M) leaders who brought and supported the TMC to regain its lost dignity in Tripura. In municipal elections, you will find that the CPI(M) has not fielded candidates in most of the seats where the TMC has fielded its candidates. The same happens with Congress. He has an understanding of seat adjustment. TMC does not even have district committee and block committee. Their intention is not to win elections, but to create hurdles in the development of Tripura.

“I have come to know that TMC leaders are going to meet the Union Home Minister and take their grievances related to the unrest created by him. After deteriorating the law and order situation in the state, he will now do drama in the national capital before the Home Ministry. It is unfortunate that they are trying to divide people in Tripura and we strongly oppose the objectionable comments made against us by senior TMC leaders including Farhad Hakim.

State BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharya, who was present at the press conference, said, “Like in West Bengal, TMC is trying to play its communal card here in Tripura. We have asked our workers not to fall for their trap. People are with BJP in Tripura and TMC is not going to win even a single seat here.

Terming TMC leaders as ‘troublemakers’ and ‘outsiders’, he said, “TMC criminals who are involved in cow smuggling (pointing to Abhishek Banerjee), cheat funds (pointing to Kunal Ghosh) Coming to create atmosphere in Tripura. Anarchy. We will not let them do this and we will fight them politically.”

Trouble started after stones were allegedly pelted at a street corner meeting being addressed by Chief Minister Biplab Deb on Saturday.

State BJP leaders alleged that Sayoni Ghosh was on the spot (inside a vehicle) and while passing through the area (where the CM was addressing the crowd) she shouted, “khela hobe (game will happen) and sarcastically said that There were not even 50 people present in the meeting.
