With the name of former India defender and Mohun Bagan legend Subrata Bhattacharya as the club president, speculations had intensified.

But speculations were put to rest as Bose was back after a hiatus of five years.

“I am old and battling with many ailments, but with the love and affection of the club members and supporters, to whom I am forever young, I will continue to serve the club with full dedication. In a statement issued by Debashish Dutta, I extend my love and best wishes to all.

“I am both happy and humbled by the decision of the newly elected committee of Mohun Bagan Club to give me the responsibility of president,” he said.

The club further decided to renovate and upgrade the VVIP box with a lift facility.

“The lawn will be renovated and beautified in honor of the 1911 IFA Shield winning team,” it added.

In another decision, former India athlete Soma Biswas was chosen as the convener of their athletics team.
