The TVS Zeppelin Cruiser Concept was powered by a 220 cc engine mated to a 1,200-watt regenerative assist motor
We think TVS is looking at bringing in a new lifestyle product rather than the commuter offering. It points to the TVS Zeppelin cruiser that was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The bike generated a lot of interest at the expo but the makers remained largely silent about the project. However, the company is set to enter the cruiser segment, especially with the Bajaj Avenger 220 which is the only competitor in the entry-level space.
Interestingly, the TVS Zeppelin concept was powered by a 220 cc engine and also got a 1,200-watt regenerative assist motor coupled with a 48-volt Li-ion battery, which brought in 20 percent more torque when needed. It is not clear whether this technology will make it to the production model or not, but it will certainly help TVS differentiate its cruiser from its rivals. It promises premium positioning and pricing in the segment.

Apart from the Zeppelin, TVS is likely to bring its own variant of the BMW G 310 R or G 310 GS. The 310cc range has been co-developed by BMW and TVS. With BMW Motorrad also set to get its own iteration of the Apache RR 310 in the form of the G 310 RR, there is a chance that TVS might get either the G 310 R or the G 310 GS with its own badging. If the BMW G 310 RR teaser is anything to go by, the upcoming bike could remain almost identical with only a few changes here and there. Being a TVS product, we may also see a more accessible price tag. That said, it is all conjecture at this point and we will have to wait and see what TVS launches on July 6. Keep watching this space for all the action.
