The company has also mentioned that the new feature will be available for a limited time during the testing phase for some users, the report suggests. In addition, other account holders will also be allowed to add tags to both photos and videos in the tweet, the company noted.
How will this new feature work?
As per the report, Twitter has shared a statement to explain how the feature will work. The company says the upcoming feature will allow users to “combine up to four media assets in one tweet, regardless of format”. In addition, the company has also noticed that users are becoming more involved in visual conversations on Twitter with “images, GIFS and videos to make these conversations more exciting.” In addition, the company is also trying to “find out how people combine these different media formats to express themselves more creatively” on Twitter with more than 280 characters.
Furthermore, the report mentions that some other users have also tweeted about the feature, however, it is not clear what different media will look like in the same tweet. The report also shared some screenshots of app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi that shows how users will be able to view different media in a carousel in Tweet Composer. Users will be allowed to easily add or remove them or even change their status.
Other features being developed by Twitter
Over the past few months, Twitter has been running a number of limited tests to check the performance and usability of various features. Recently, the company announced testing a MySpace-like status feature that would allow users to attach tags like “hot tech,” “unpopular opinion” or “vacation mode.” In addition, Twitter has also started testing a co-author tweet function called co-tweets and a custom timeline built by developers.
