Two arrested for PhonePe wallet fraud in Delhi’s Burari

New Delhi : Two people arrested for allegedly withdrawing In North Delhi’s Burari area, Rs 50,000 was deducted from the account of a person through an e-wallet fraudulently. The police gave this information on Friday.

The accused have been identified as Sanjay (40) resident of Mukundpur and Rahul Das (24), resident of Burari, he said.

On November 3, a person named Sandeep Sharma had filed a complaint about the loss of his mobile phone.

On 5th November when he bought a new phone and activated the SIM card, he saw that his PhonePe wallet was activated and an amount An unidentified person withdrew Rs 52,860, following which he lodged a complaint with the Burari police station, a senior police officer said.

During investigation, the police obtained records from the e-wallet application and identified the beneficiary. After this Sanjay and Das were arrested from Burari on 6 November.

Police found that Rahul found the lost phone of the victim. Being tech savvy, he opened the lock of the phone. Later, he changed all the PINs of the required applications and transferred the money to the paan shop owner Sanjay in six to seven transactions, the police said.

He said that the owner of the paan shop kept a part of the money with him and handed over the remaining amount to Das.

Police said the accused filed the report late as he thought the phone was lost and would find it.

Police have recovered the victim’s mobile phone and a new device 20,000 from the possession of the slave, he added.
