New Delhi: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday said that under PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission two container based mobile hospitals with all health facilities will be set up which can be taken to any place in case of emergency.
These containers with a capacity of around 100 beds will be kept in Delhi and Chennai, he added, adding that they can be airlifted or taken by trains in case of emergency.

Vikas Sheel, Additional Secretary and Mission Director, National Health Mission, elaborated on the scheme, saying that the objective of the scheme is to prepare India to effectively deal with any future pandemics and health emergencies, and provide new basic To build infrastructure and strengthen existing institutions and to build health infrastructure in each. He said the program aims to bridge critical gaps for holistic and comprehensive health care and pandemic response systems.
At the district level, Sheel said the plan aims to establish Integrated Public Health Laboratory in all 730 districts, while at the state level, five regional branches of NCDC and 20 metropolitan units will be established and at the national level, NCDC will be strengthened.
He said that 15 Health Emergency Operation Centers would be started round the clock at the State level along with Critical Care Hospital Block in 12 government hospitals to facilitate comprehensive diagnosis and treatment.
The official said that four new regional National Institutes for Virology would be operationalized and a National Institution for One Health would be set up.
