UGC NET Exam: From Application Fee to Subjects, All Details Here

Online submission of University Grants Commission (UGC)-NET merged cycles for December 2021 and June 2022 is available till May 20, 2022. National Testing Agency (NTA) is going to conduct the UGC-NET for Combined Cycles in 82. With ‘Hindu Studies’ a new addition is being made to the subject list.

UGC NET December 2021 and June 2022 (merged cycles) have gone live from April 30, 2022. The online submission for application started from 30th April and will continue till 5pm on 20th May. The last date for depositing the examination fee is May 20 till 11.50 pm.

In a notification last month, the department said the NTA has been tasked by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to conduct the UGC-NET, a test to determine the eligibility of Indian citizens for ‘Assistant Professorship’ and ‘ . Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor in Indian Universities and Colleges.

NTA will conduct the eligibility for ‘Junior Research Fellowship’ for ‘Assistant Professor’ in 82 subjects in UGC-NET (Merged Cycle) and Computer Based Test (CBT) mode in December 2021 and June 2022. Earlier, only 81 subjects were examined, but this time a new subject ‘Hindu Studies’ with a code of 102 has been added.

The slots of JRFs for both the UGC-NET December 2021 and June 2022 cycles have been merged, while the subject-wise cum category-wise allocation methodology of JRF remains unchanged.

As per the notification, candidates should ensure that the e-mail address and mobile number provided in the online application form are their own or that of the parent/guardian as all information/communication is e-mailed by NTA to the registered e-mail. will be sent through Mail address or SMS on registered mobile number only.

Notably, NTA has increased the application fee for UGC NET by around 10%. The application fee for general category or unreserved category has been increased by from 100 compared to 1,100 1,000 was charged last year. On the other hand, the application fee for EWS, and OBC-NCL is increased by 50 carrying it 550. Meanwhile, the fee for SC, ST, PWD and transgender has been increased 25 to 275 this year.

The exam for the UGT-NET merged cycle will be conducted in 541 different cities across India – more than the exams conducted at 239 locations last year. There will be two shifts for the exam. The first shift will be from 09:00 AM to 12:00 PM, while the second shift will be from 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM.
