UK woman finds 100-year-old dairy milk wrapper while renovating house

A woman in Devon, UK, got a pleasant surprise when she found a 100-year-old dairy milk wrapper during renovations to her home. according to a Metro Reportedly, Emma Young, 51, found empty bar sleeves when she was pulling back floorboards in her bathroom.

When she dusted off, she discovered a rectangular cardboard sleeve with Cadbury’s distinctive purple packaging. However, there was no chocolate inside. Eager to know more about it, she then reached out to the confectionery company, who told her it was produced between 1930–1934.

She told Metro, “What really surprised me was her condition. It’s in such good nick and is pristine on one side – you wouldn’t believe it was almost 100 years old. I guess because it’s so old, I was expecting it to be almost inconspicuous but aside from one side that was chewed on by rats, the other side looks like something you’d put on a shelf.

It says ‘Cadbury’s Dairy Milk Chocolate Neapolitan’ and ‘Made in the garden village of Bournville England’, it’s lovely. There is no chocolate inside, someone has a treasure. It’s a clear sleeve, I think the inner strip must have popped out.

Mrs Young told Emma she has always been a chocolate lover, with Cadbury being a personal favourite. A 16-cm vintage rapper currently adorns her mantelpiece.

“It’s more than a cover, it’s a little history. It’s sitting on our mantelpiece because it’s a little talking point”, she said.

Saying that it has sentimental value, she is now going to frame the rapper and display it.
