British Prime Minister Boris Johnson urged other leaders on Saturday to join a six-point plan to respond to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, from humanitarian aid to giving Moscow the most economic pain.
Ahead of a meeting with leaders of Canada, the Netherlands and Central Europe in London next week, Johnson said on Saturday that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s aggression must be “failed and seen to have failed”.
“It is not enough to express our support for a rules-based international order – we must defend it against a continued attempt by military force to rewrite the rules,” Johnson said in a statement.

Johnson also called for full participation of the government of Ukraine, stronger security in the European-Atlantic region and diplomatic routes to end the “creeping normalization” of Russian activities in Ukraine.
After meeting the prime ministers of Canada and the Netherlands on Monday, Johnson is due to host leaders of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia – countries facing an influx of refugees because of the invasion – on Tuesday.
Britain plans to move more quickly to approve Russian traders through new legal measures that will be sent to parliament on Monday.
