Unhappy with 99.9 percentile, JEE Main topper to take engineering entrance again to ‘Improve score’

Mumbai’s Chinmoy Moorjani has scored 99.956 percentile in the first session Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2022, This has made him among the toppers, however, he is not satisfied with the score and will appear for the engineering entrance exam for the second time.

The 17-year-old says he is planning to appear for the second session of engineering admissions to be held from July 21 to check if he can score better. He told News18.com, “I will also write JEE Mains second session exam as it will help me to increase my score.”

He started his preparation soon after he finished his class 10th board exam in 2020. Always passionate about engineering, he is now planning to crack JEE Advanced and get a seat in one of the top IITs in the country. “I have been fond of engineering since childhood. My goal is to get into a top IIT,” he said.

He started preparing for JEE Main immediately after completing his 10th board exam. “While preparing for the exam I made detailed notes and ensured that I completed the study material on time. I solved previous years question papers and attempted two to three mock tests every week. Apart from this, I also attended live doubt resolution classes at the coaching institute,” he said. Chinmoy had opted for online coaching at Unacademy.

His father is an architect while his mother is a housewife. She also has a younger sister who is studying in 8th standard. Chinmaya completed both 10th and 12th classes CBSE Board affiliated Ryan International School. She had secured 98 per cent marks in her 10th board exam and is awaiting her 12th result.

Chinmoy is not the only one who is planning to appear in JEE Main 2022 Session 2. Navya Hisaria from Rajasthan who has secured full marks or 100 percentile There is a plan to sit for the next session in the first session as well. The topper intends to appear for the second session of JEE Main 2022 to practice. The topper said that this would help them practice their time management skills. Even if these students get less marks in the second session, as per the rules, the best marks of two attempts will be counted in the final result.
