On Thursday, the body of a 22-year-old woman who went missing two months ago was found near the ashram of a former state minister’s son. The body was found in a rotten condition in the pit of a septic tank.
The girl’s mother alleged that the police had failed to prevent the incident and arrest the accused persons in time.
Additional Superintendent of Police Unnao Shashi Shekhar Singh, however, said that the Inspector-in-Charge has been suspended for dereliction of duty.
The ASP further said, “The Inspector did not convert the missing case further under IPC sections, which confirmed his negligence in the matter and he has been suspended by Superintendent of Police Dinesh Tripathi.”
ASP said, apart from this, one more accused Sun has been arrested. Singh further said, “Our assurance to the family is that the Unnao Police is with them till the culprits are punished.”
However, the victim’s mother had claimed that the police did not pay heed to her complaint. The girls’ mother, while talking to media persons on Thursday, had alleged, “Officers said your girl has run away from home. She will return soon. The officials did not even let us meet the SP.”
Police said the post-mortem report confirmed death by strangulation. “With this, the woman has suffered serious injuries on the neck bone and head bone. Death has occurred due to suffocation. A panel of three doctors conducted the post-mortem. The doctors have also made slides for examination. Videography of complete postmortem also It has been done,” the police added.
Meanwhile, the last rites of the girl are to be performed at Chandan Ghat, but the family members of the victim are sitting on the ghat demanding many demands, due to which the last rites could not be performed even after two hours. The officials present on the spot are trying to pacify the family of the deceased. The relatives had demanded the PM report, which was provided by the police. A heavy police force is present at the ghat besides district officials including the city magistrate.
