Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and a senior leader from Uttar Pradesh Rita Bahuguna Joshi on Tuesday sought a party ticket for her son in the upcoming assembly elections. He further clarified that he is ready to resign from his Lok Sabha seat if the party can give ticket to only one person in the family.
Joshi has written a letter to BJP President JP Nadda demanding that son Mayank Joshi be given ticket from Lucknow Cantt in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
He further told reporters, as quoted by the news agency ANI“He (son Mayank Joshi) has been working since 2009 and has applied for it (ticket from Lucknow Cantt). But if the party has decided to give ticket to only one person per family, then I will ask for it. Will resign from the current Lok Sabha seat if Mayank gets a ticket.”
Rita Bahuguna Joshi said, “I wrote this proposal to BJP President JP Nadda and will always continue to work for BJP. The party can choose to accept my proposal or not. I had announced many years ago that I will not contest elections.” ,
Voting for 403 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh will begin in seven phases from February 10. Voting in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven phases on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27 and March 3 and 7.
