In a shocking incident, a government college lecturer allegedly called off his wedding after the bride’s family refused to give fortuner in dowry. Identified as Siddharth Vihar, he works in a government college in UP. The incident took place in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. According to a report in The Times of India, the lecturer demanded a fortune as dowry from the bride’s family just a month before the wedding. When his demand was not met, the lecturer broke the marriage by sending a message on the woman’s phone.
“On October 10, 2022, the woman’s family booked a WagonR as a gift for the groom. After this a member of the groom’s family came to the bride’s house and demanded a fortuner instead. However, the bride’s family turned down his demand. The lecturer broke the marriage on November 23,” the FIR states.
The government college lecturer has been booked under IPC section 506 (criminal intimidation) and sections of the Dowry Act.
Meanwhile, earlier in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah, bride Neeta Yadav took two rounds during the wedding and then abruptly called off the ceremony. the reason? The bride claimed that the groom was “too black.” As soon as the wedding ceremony began, the couple exchanged garlands, and that’s when the problems started.
Neetu suddenly expressed her intention to end the marriage after two rounds. She claimed that the groom she was introduced to earlier was not the one she was marrying. He further said that he did not like the color of her skin. According to a report in IANS, even when her family members pleaded with her to come back, she left the mandap and did not return.
After more than six hours, the groom got ready to leave without his family members. The groom’s father has now filed a complaint with the police alleging that jewelry worth thousands of rupees gifted to the bride has not been returned to him. The groom Ravi has claimed that the incident put his life in danger.
