Hockey Uttar Pradesh, Hockey Karnataka, Hockey Maharashtra and Hockey Punjab will clash for a place in the final of the 11th Hockey India Senior Men’s National Championship here on Monday.
Uttar Pradesh will face Karnataka in the first semi-final. Both the teams are registering hard-won victories in their respective last-eight matches. Uttar Pradesh beat Hockey Haryana 2-1 in the third quarter-final on Saturday, while Karnataka, currently the second-highest goalscorer in the tournament (35), will look to capitalize on their stellar form.
Maharashtra kept their guts up to register a thrilling 2-0 win over Tamil Nadu’s hockey unit in a shootout in another last-eight clash on Saturday. S for Tamil Nadu. Karthi (46th and 48th) scored while Pratap Kishanrao Shinde (eight) and captain Taleb Shah (60th) scored a goal each to help Maharashtra level 2-2 in regulation time.
