The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday made a clean sweep in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council elections. According to the results from the districts, BJP candidates have been declared elected in more than half a dozen seats and are leading in many places.
According to the latest report, BJP has won 33 out of 36 seats. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, UP MLC Elections The results have proved that people had unwavering faith in the leadership of the saffron party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
BJP candidate Ramchandra Pradhan has won from Lucknow-Unnao seat while Pragya Tripathi has won from Bahraich-Shravati seat. Dinesh Pratap Singh of BJP has won from Rae Bareli.
However, the party lost from Varanasi seat. That seat has been won by independent candidate Annapurna Singh.
From Ballia seat, Ravi Shankar Singh Pappu of BJP, grandson of former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar, defeated Arvind Giri of SP by 1,981 votes. In Barabanki, Angad Singh of BJP defeated Rajesh Kumar Yadav of SP by 1,745 votes.
In Sitapur seat, Pawan Kumar Singh of saffron party defeated Arunesh Yadav of Samajwadi Party (SP) by 3692 votes, while in Basti, another BJP leader Subhash Yaduvansh defeated Santosh Yadav of SP by 4,294 votes.
BJP’s Hari Om Pandey defeated SP’s Hiralal Yadav by 1,680 votes in Faizabad-Ambedkarnagar seat in Ayodhya.
According to the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh, 95 candidates were in the fray and polling was held at 739 centres.
1,20,657 voters were eligible to exercise their franchise.
BJP members were elected unopposed in nine seats – eight local body constituencies – Badaun, Hardoi, Kheri, Mirzapur-Sonbhadra, Banda-Hamirpur, Aligarh, Bulandshahr, and Mathura-Etah-Mainpuri and Mathura-Etah-Mainpuri Electoral Officers Area.
