The Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday filed a charge sheet against gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, citing the recorded statement of the former MP. According to the document, he claimed to have “direct links with Pakistan’s ISI and terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba”. The development came hours after security personnel killed his son Asad and the latter’s aide in an encounter.
“…I have no dearth of arms as I have direct links with Pakistan’s ISI and terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. Weapons from Pakistan are dropped on the Punjab border with the help of drones and local connections collect them. Terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir get weapons from this consignment,” the chargesheet quoted the former Samajwadi Party leader as saying.
The document also states that he promises to help a person “with the recovery of money and arms and ammunition used in the incident”.
