UP sound check: 6,031 loudspeakers removed from religious places, volume reduced at 29,674 spots

Acting on the orders of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, police have removed 6,031 unauthorized loudspeakers from religious places and reduced the noise level at 29,674 places in Uttar Pradesh.

Till April 30, the UP government has sought reports on places where loudspeakers exceed volume levels.

Speaking to the media, Additional Director General of Law and Order, Prashant Kumar said: “People are cooperating and removing loudspeakers themselves. This campaign will continue till April 30.

Along with this, it was said that the sound should remain inside the religious premises, so that no one else should be disturbed.

Since this order, the police officers are making sure to remove loudspeakers and reduce the sound at religious places in the state.

As per the latest figures, 30 unauthorized loudspeakers were removed and the volume was reduced at 905 places in the Agra region.

1,215 in Meerut zone, 1,070 in Bareilly zone, 912 in Lucknow zone, 1,056 in Kanpur zone, 1,366 in Prayagraj zone, 1,366 in Gorakhpur zone, 19 in Varanasi zone, 190 from Gautam Budh Nagar, 190 unauthorized loudspeakers were removed in Lucknow. 170 in the Commissionerate and Varanasi Commissionerate.

The volume was reduced at 5,976 spots in Meerut zone, 6,257 spots in Bareilly zone, 6,400 spots in Lucknow zone, 1,713 spots in Kanpur zone, 1,073 spots in Prayagraj, 2,767 spots in Gorakhpur zone, 2,417 in Varanasi zone, 1,235 spots in Lucknow. Commissionerate, 95 spots in Kanpur Commissionerate, 462 spots in Gautam Budh Nagar and 374 spots in Varanasi Commissionerate.

In view of the festivals, the authorities have spoken to 37,344 religious leaders about the use of loudspeakers.

With the month of Ramadan soon coming to an end, Alvida (the last Friday of Ramadan) will be held at 31,000 venues on April 29. The police force has been asked to remain alert at sensitive places.

Meanwhile, UP Additional Chief Secretary Home Avnish Awasthi has sought a report from all the station in-charges regarding the noise level in the areas under their jurisdiction.
