Ahead of its official launch, some candid photos of the near-production version 2022 Scorpio Revealing the complete design of the upcoming SUV surfaced on the internet. The latest spy shots have helped us compare current-gen Mahindra Scorpio, Here is what the 2022 Scorpio is expected to pack over the model that it is set to replace –
exterior design
The current generation Scorpio certainly looks big and powerful, and the new version is expected to be no different. However, spy shots show that Mahindra has made it a bit softer than before. At the front, the new SUV sports Mahindra’s signature grille with 6 vertical slats, surrounded by dual-barrel projector headlamps. The SUV also sports C-shaped LED DRLs, which are placed around the fog lamp housings on either side.
Moving to the sides, the 2022 Scorpio gets premium-looking diamond cut alloy wheels, which are likely to measure 17-inches. There is body cladding on the bottom of the doors, along with larger wheel arches. The windows are also quite large in size, which will make the cabin feel airy.
At the rear, the next-gen Scorpio comes with single-piece vertical LED tail lamps, which are mounted upwards. The tail lamps of the Volvo XC90 look similar. Nonetheless, the Scorpio has retained its side-opening rear door. There is also a skid plate with a chrome strip running across its width. Note that the spy car has the old Mahindra logo but is a production-ready version new scorpio The brand new SUV will exclusively sport the new Mahindra Twin-Peaks logo.
powertrain
Powering the current-gen Scorpio is the only 2.2-litre diesel engine that makes 120 PS/280 Nm on the entry-level variant, while the same engine produces 140 PS and 319 Nm on all other trim levels. The former gets a 5-speed MT while the latter can only be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as of now.
New-Gen Scorpio likely to borrow its powertrain from XUV700, which means that it is expected to be offered with both a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, as well as a 2.2-litre oil burner. However, it remains to be seen whether he will be pitched in the same tune as his elder brother.
If so, expect both manual and automatic transmission options with both petrol and diesel engines. In addition to this, the 2022 Scorpio will also be offered with an optional 4×4 drivetrain, which will make it one of the most affordable SUVs in India to be offered with this option.
interior
Like the outside, the 2022 Scorpio will also see drastic changes on the inside. To be honest, the current-gen Scorpio has a longer lifespan than more modern rivals, and Mahindra is finally addressing the elephant in the room. Spy shots show a large infotainment screen with AC vents on either side. The car gets circular dials for automatic climate control as well as a volume knob, which is reminiscent of the current-gen model.

features
As of now, Mahindra offers the current Scorpio with features like cruise control, automatic climate control, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and AUX connectivity and auto headlamps with LED DRLs. cost
The current Scorpio price ranges from Rs 13.54 Lakh to Rs 18.62 Lakh (ex-showroom). However, the top-end variant of the new Scorpio is expected to be slightly more expensive than the current model.
