UP’s Banda breaks 28-year temperature record below 49 degree Celsius

Uttar Pradesh is in the grip of scorching heat along with Banda district in the Bundelkhand region, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 49 degrees Celsius on Sunday, the highest in the state.

According to the data of the India Meteorological Department, Banda recorded the highest ever temperature in May. The previous maximum temperature in the district was 48.8 degree Celsius on 31 May 1994.

The mercury touched 47.7 degrees Celsius in nearby Agra.

Jhansi district recorded 47.6 degree Celsius, Prayagraj 46.9 degree, Kanpur 46.1, Varanasi 46, Churk 45.6, Hamirpur, Fatehpur 45.2 and Orai 45 degree Celsius.

The Meteorological Department has warned of heat wave conditions at isolated places in western Uttar Pradesh in the next 48 hours.

The Meteorological Department said that rain and thundershowers are likely at places in East Uttar Pradesh, while the weather is likely to remain dry over the western part of the state.
