Travel to the United Arab Emirates: The US State Department updated its travel advisory for the United Arab Emirates, warning Americans against visiting the Gulf state of the United Arab Emirates amid the threat of missile and drone attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels.
In addition, the United States warned against travel to the United Arab Emirates due to COVID-19 cases, and said travelers should reconsider their plans due to the threat of missile and drone attacks.
UAE travel advisory informed, “Do not travel to UAE due to COVID-19. Reconsider travel due to risk of missile or drone attacks.”
“The potential for attacks affecting American citizens and interests in the Gulf and the Arabian Peninsula remains a serious, serious concern,” the State Department’s travel advisory said. “Insurgent groups operating in Yemen have stated their intention to attack neighboring countries, including the UAE, using missiles and drones. Recent missile and drone attacks targeted populated areas and civilian infrastructure,” said the travel advisory .
Additionally, due to the risk of civil aviation operations within the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, including the United Arab Emirates, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued an advisory, it is further notified
Iranian-backed fighters based in Yemen have carried out two attacks on the Gulf state this month, one on the outskirts of the capital Abu Dhabi, killing three people. The United Arab Emirates is the trade and tourism hub of the Middle East and hosted US troops who thwarted a missile strike on Monday.
The US raised its travel warning to the highest level as infections rose in the Gulf country. The latest travel advisory said COVID cases in the UAE remained “very high”. The UAE reported just over 2,600 cases on Thursday.
An earlier travel warning that began on 6 December 2021 stated that, “air passengers who are two years of age or older, regardless of nationality or vaccination status, within one day of flight departure Documentation of a negative viral test result is required to be shown to the United States prior to boarding. You must show your negative result to the airline before boarding your flight.”
