US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for South and Southeast Asia Lindsay W. Ford visited the Tata-Lockheed Martin Aerospace facility in Hyderabad on Friday.
The US consulate said in a statement that they also participated in a round table at startup incubator T-Hub, which was attended by tech entrepreneurs from sectors such as aerospace, healthcare, automotive and software.
“The visit highlights the strength of Hyderabad’s emerging tech sector and the important role the Telangana government plays in supporting startups as well as the contributing defense ties. [to] US-India partnership,” said US Consul General Joel Reifman.
The presence of Tata Advanced Systems, US firms such as Lockheed, Boeing and GE, as well as other US firms such as Honeywell Aerospace and Pratt & Whitney, has created a thriving environment for the aerospace and defense industry in Telangana.
The consulate said Ms Ford serves as the principal advisor to senior leadership within the US Department of Defense for all policy matters related to the development and implementation of defense strategies and plans for South and Southeast Asia. Before reaching Hyderabad, he attended the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi.
