United Nations:

The United States and Europe on Monday urged Russia to stop alleged sexual violence in Ukraine by its military and its representatives, charges that Moscow denounced as “lies”.

The arguments were made during a meeting of the UN Security Council hosted by Albania, who is currently the rotating chair.

The US said, “It is up to Russia to stop the rape, violence and torture from within its ranks. It is up to Russia to end this unconscious, unprovoked war against the people of Ukraine, and we ask the Russian Federation to do so.” Calling to do it,” the US said. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield.

European Council President Charles Michel condemned the “tyranny” by Russia.

“These crimes should and should be punished. To hold those responsible, we need evidence and we are now helping to collect evidence of these crimes,” he said.

He said Moscow was “solely responsible” for the food crisis caused by Russia’s invasion of its neighbour.

The allegation prompted Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, to leave the chamber and replace him with a deputy.

Nebenzia had earlier denied alleged sexual abuse by Russian forces in Ukraine.

“Allegations of sexual violence against the Russian military have been repeated … but no evidence has been provided,” he said.

UN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict Pramila Patton urged that sexual violence crimes are “ultimately reflected” in any peace agreement.

“This includes making sure that apologies for sexual violence offenses are explicitly prohibited,” she said.
