Ireland won the second Twenty20 match against the United States by 9 runs when right-handed batsman Lorcan Tucker scored 84 off just 54 balls and was awarded Player of the Match and Player of the Series.
The United States defeated Ireland by 26 runs in the first match played at the Broward County Stadium on Wednesday.
Ireland scored 150 and were dismissed in the 19th over with one ball to spare. In reply, America scored 141-7 runs in their 20 overs.
Tucker, batting at No 3 for only the second time, was named Man of the Series after top score for Ireland with an unbeaten 57 in the first match. Curtis Camper took four for 25 to lead the Ireland bowlers.
“Great to have the opportunity to bat at such heights up the order,” Tucker said in a statement to Cricket Ireland.
“When it’s a field with only 150 and short enough boundaries on the board, you want to take your chances and I think we did really well in the field. We took wickets at crucial moments and played the game really well. has been closed.”
Saurabh Netravalkar took three wickets for 33 runs for America, who won the toss and sent Ireland to bat.
The teams begin a three-match One Day International series on Sunday, also on Ft. Lauderdale. Ireland then travels to Kingston, Jamaica in January for three ODIs and a Twenty20 match against the West Indies.
