Varanasi: TMC leader and Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee When she was on her way to take part in the Ganga aarti, she was allegedly shown black flags by Hindu Yuva Vahini activists amid slogans of “Jai Shri Ram” and “Modi-Modi”. Dashashwamedh Ghat Wednesday evening in Varanasi.
To express her displeasure over the incident, she sat on the steps of the ghat instead of a chair and watched the Ganga aarti.
After landing at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, she went straight to the ghat to see the Ganga Aarti. when his vehicle was passing Chetganj area, a group of Hindu Yuva Vahini activists started raising slogans like “Back Jao” (go back) and showing black flags. The police present on the spot stopped them.

In the meantime, he stopped the car and came out on the road. She kept watching him for some time before going to the ghat.
According to Manoj Rai Dhupchandi, a Samajwadi Party (SP) leader who was with Mamata at the time, she said that “fear of defeat forced her to act this way”. They also raised slogans of “Jai UP, Jai Hind” and “Har-Har Mahadev”, he told TOI, adding that some BJP workers had also reached the ghat.
Till the filing of this report, the police did not take any action against anyone in this regard. Chetganj police said that action will be taken after the identification of the people involved in the incident.
Mamta was in Varanasi to participate in the election rally of Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday.
