Pithoragarh: Bodies of five trekkers of the district West Bengal, who went missing during an operation in Himalaya, were retrieved from Tuesday sunderdhunga glacier UttarakhandBageshwar District.
Search and rescue teams are still on the spot to trace his missing guide Khilafat Singh, a resident of Jakuni village in Kapkot sub-division of the district.
“The 13-member rescue team consists of NDRF And SDRF personnel reached Devi Kund near Sunderdhunga glacier on Tuesday, where earlier five bodies were spotted and all of them were fished out,” said Bageshwar District Magistrate Vineet Kumar.
“The bodies have been sent to Kapkot for postmortem,” he said.
Kumar said inclement weather had foiled several attempts to retrieve the bodies in the past few days.
He said that 65 tourists, including these five trekkers, got stuck in the Sunderdhunga Glacier on Tuesday after three days of record rain from October 17-19 in Uttarakhand.
