Uttarkashi: Two pilgrims were killed and 13 others were injured when a vehicle fell into a 100-metre deep gorge on the Gangotri National Highway in Uttarkashi on Sunday night.
According to sources, soon after the incident, ITBP and police teams launched a rescue operation and sent the injured pilgrims to Military Hospital, Harshil.
During treatment, two of the pilgrims, identified as Alka Bote, 45, and Madhavan (details awaited) died. Meanwhile, other injured were shifted to Uttarkashi district hospital.
District Disaster Management Officer Devendra Patwal said, “Two seriously injured pilgrims Arnav Mahroti (14) and Vaishali (46) have been referred to a higher medical center in Dehradun, while Venkatesh (43) is fine and has been shifted to a hospital. has been discharged from The remaining 10 victims are still being treated at Uttarkashi District Hospital.”
“All the 14 pilgrims were residents of Aurangabad, Maharashtra, while the driver was from Premnagar area of ​​Dehradun,” he said.
