‘Vaccination not mandatory’: CISCE clarifies its stand on jobs ahead of board exams

Mumbai : The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Sunday clarified that vaccination is not mandatory for class 10 and class 12 students who will take the upcoming board exams.

CISCE issued a circular stating that the earlier notice has been misinterpreted. He further said that parents of students who took the exam are encouraged to vaccinate their 15 and 18 year olds. However, vaccination is neither mandatory nor a pre-condition for the candidates.

Gaikwad shared a copy of the circular on Twitter and thanked the board members for clarifying it. “Hopefully this allays the concerns of students and parents,” she wrote.

Currently, vaccine certificates are not mandatory for attendance in higher education institutions in the state, as noted by the state’s Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant last month. No such clarification has been issued for schools.

ICSE, ISC Semester 2 exam will start with English paper on the first day. The class 10 and class 12 exams will be conducted for the duration of one hour 30 minutes. While class 10 exams will be held from 10 am, class 12 semester 2 exams will be conducted from 2 pm.
