JERUSALEM: Palestinian health officials are launching a vaccination campaign for students aged 16-18 in the Gaza Strip as the region grapples with a third wave of coronavirus infections. Health officials started giving pfizer Vaccines in schools in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday and the target is to vaccinate more than 100,000 students in the coming weeks. Palestinian officials in the occupied West Bank launched a similar operation on Tuesday.
The Gaza health ministry on Tuesday reported six deaths and more than 1,400 new Covid-19 cases, the highest number since a new wave of infections began in August.
Less than half of the West Bank population has received the first dose of the vaccine, and about 15% of Gaza’s population has received the first shot.
