VCK official murdered near BSNL office in KK Nagar

A 40-year-old man, who was an office-bearer of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), was mowed down by an unknown person’s car near the BSNL office in KK Nagar in the early hours of Thursday.

The police identified the victim as R.K., a resident of Ambedkar Kudiyiruppu, KK Nagar. Ramesh aka ‘Munda Kutty’ as Ramesh. He had a history sheet in his name as he was cited as an accused in at least nine criminal cases including two murders. He was a real estate businessman.

Police said he was on his way to a tea stall located near the BSNL office at 7.50 am on Thursday. Suddenly two unknown people who came in the car surrounded him. When he showed his weapons, Ramesh ran away. Both caught him and attacked him indiscriminately. He fell on the ground and died on the spot. The accused fled from the car.

On receiving the information, MGR Nagar police station reached the spot and recovered the body and conducted investigation, which was sent to Government Royapettah Hospital for postmortem. The identities of the suspects and their motives were not immediately known. Senior police officers conducted a preliminary inquiry. Police sources said there were some other passengers in the car used by the attackers.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, T. Nagar, AK Arun Kabilan said, “We analyzed the CCTV camera footage from the crime scene and identified the registration number of the car used by the suspects. We have solid leads about the suspects, and they will be nabbed soon.”
