Vedanta to set up aluminum park in Jharsuguda, Odisha

Bhubaneswar, 31 March (PTI) Vedanta Limited said on Monday that it will set up a modern aluminum park in Jharsuguda, Odisha, close to its aluminum smelter.

Spread over 253 acres, the park will attract more than 100 subtle, small and medium enterprises (MSME) and generates 2 lakh job opportunities, the company said in a statement.

Vedanta invested an aluminum plant of Rs 1 lakh crore for the establishment of the park and an aluminum plant of 3 million tonnes per year (MTPA) in Regada district.

“Our journey in Odisha has been no less than transformative. From breaking the obstacles with the country’s first female powered poteline to promote permanent development through our skill development and environmental initiatives, we are deeply committed to shaping Odisha’s bright future,” said Vedanta Aluminum’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), said Sanil Gupta.

He said, “Our latest investment of Rs 1 lakh crore is a will for our permanent belief to lead India’s industrial revolution,” he said.

In the ‘Ukakash Odisha-Mack’ at the Odisha Conclave held in January, the company signed an MoU with the state government for the development of two projects.

Vedanta has a 1.8-mtpa smelter facility and 3.5-mtpa alumina refinery at Jharsuguda in Langigad in Kalahndi district of Odisha. Apart from this, it has also started mining operations in many districts of Odisha. PTI BBM RBT
