A tweet claiming India has “officially adopted bitcoin as legal tender” was excluded.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Twitter handle was briefly hacked on Sunday, and there was a tweet claiming that India has “officially adopted bitcoin as legal tender”.

The Prime Minister’s Office later said that the account was immediately secured after the matter escalated on Twitter.

The statement said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Twitter handle was tampered with for some time. The matter was escalated to Twitter and the account was immediately secured. Any tweet should be ignored.”

The tweet after Mr Modi’s personal handle was hacked also claimed that India “officially bought 500 BTC and is distributing them among its residents” and asked people to hurry. Link shared.

The future has come today, it said.

Several users immediately indicated that the account had been hacked.

It may be noted that India has taken a tough stance on cryptocurrencies.

The government may introduce a bill on cryptocurrencies and has expressed concern that they could be used to lure investors with misleading claims and finance terrorist activities.
