‘Very shocking’: attacker stabs four to death at major Shanghai hospital – Times of India

Shanghai: Four people in a famous Shanghai Knife attackers were injured at the hospital on Saturday, the second reported stabbing incident after the financial center’s Covid-19 lockdown was lifted in early June.

Video There was chaos on social media as visitors climbed under turnstiles to exit the hospital, while doctors were seen running with their patients, some in wheelchairs and a mobile bed.
In one video a long trail of blood was seen on the marble surface of a flight of stairs.
“It’s very shocking,” said one Shanghai resident, who had arrived for a check-up after the hospital was closed, who declined to be named. “It’s so depressing. What has happened to this society?”
Hospitals are a flashpoint for many in China, who face issues from brokers who illegally trade appointment tickets, long queues to see doctors, and corruption that can drive up the cost of receiving care.
Reports of patients assaulting doctors are also common.
At a Shanghai hospital, police took a man hostage with a knife on the seventh floor of the outpatient department. According to the local police, when the man threatened to hurt the hostages, the police overpowered him and opened fire.
Police said none of the injured are in a life-threatening condition and the incident is being investigated.
A police officer told the audience outside that Ruijin Hospital had been cordoned off and all appointments had been cancelled.
A man was arrested after being stabbed in the city’s downtown Jing’an district on Monday.
