Prayagraj : Overdose of viagraThe drug used to treat erectile dysfunction, a 28-year-old man started shooting indiscriminately within three months of his marriage, getting him into deep trouble.
The man had to be hospitalized and went under the knife for persistent painful erections.

Doctors said that the man got married three months back and started taking Viagra on the suggestion of his friends. He gradually increased his dosage to 200 mg daily (six to eight times the prescribed limit of 25-30 mg) after which he was in serious trouble.
“The man developed a condition called ‘priapism’ which is an unwanted, persistent erection with progressively worsening pain. This can happen spontaneously or from certain antidepressants or erectile dysfunction medications,” said Dr. Dileep Chaurasia,
Symptoms include erections lasting more than four hours on or off and lasting several hours.
When the young man’s wife saw him in pain, he went to the doctors.
A team of doctors from the Department of Urology led by Dr. Dilip Chaurasia examined the patient and decided to remove the erection and performed the first surgery lasting more than an hour at the super specialty block of MLN Medical College.
The doctor said that after performing the first surgery, we consulted the patient and after a gap of two months called for penile prosthesis surgery, which was done last Saturday.
“Penile prosthesis surgery is a treatment option for men with erectile dysfunction. In this surgery, devices known as penis implants are placed in the male genitalia to help men with erectile dysfunction (ED). Dr. Chaurasia claimed that this is the first time such a surgery has been done in Prayagraj.
“After the surgery, the man will again lead a happy married life and become a father too,” he said.
The family members of the man thanked the doctors very much for their efforts.
However, Dr. Chaurasia warned people not to take performance enhancing drugs and aphrodisiacs without consulting doctors.
He added that people with diabetes and erectile dysfunction especially should be more cautious and should never take such medicines without expert advice as it can prove to be disastrous for them.
