According to the Punjab government, at least 700 Indian students are at risk of being deported from Canada. These 700 students, mostly from Punjab, are at risk of being deported from Canada as authorities say they obtained visas using fake admission cards for Canadian universities. Punjab’s NRI minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal calls it the biggest immigration scam in the state’s history. They say a nexus of fraudsters is behind this, involving travel agents, officials from the Canadian Embassy in India and other agencies in Canada. The Punjab government has demanded an inquiry into the matter from the Centre.
